Best Phone Under 40000 Rs |
Are you confused about which phone to buy under ₹40,000? With so many options available in the market, it can be overwhelming. Do you want to know which phone has the best camera, the best performance, or the best battery life? Well, you've come to the right place! In this blog, we will guide you through the five best phones under 40,000 Rs. Let's dive in!
1. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
You might think that’s not available under ₹40,000!" But many times, I've seen it go under ₹40,000, and for that price, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE offers all the flagship features. By flagship features, I mean an IP rating, wireless charging, a telephoto camera, and a promise of four years of software updates and five years of security updates. This makes the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE a great recommendation for anyone looking for a flagship experience under or around ₹40,000.
What I like about this phone is its smaller 6.4-inch AMOLED display, which is very bright, with HDR video playback on YouTube and Netflix. Plus, it has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and overall, it's a generally great phone. The camera performance is one of the reasons we're recommending it, although there are a few things to note.
It launched with Android 13, but with 4+5 years of updates, you’ll get up to Android 17. The Exynos 2200 isn’t the best-performing chip in this price range, but it’s been well-tuned. We made a video about it; check it out if you haven’t already. One thing we didn’t like is the battery life—it could have been better.
2. Vivo V30 Pro
Next on my list is the Vivo V30 Pro. It's priced above ₹40,000, but with card discounts, you can get it for under ₹40,000. Vivo has been making great improvements, especially with the V series, and this phone features the Zeiss collaboration for the first time in a V series phone. This means you get a 50MP primary, 50MP ultra-wide, 50MP telephoto 2x camera, and a 50MP selfie camera with Zeiss natural colors and portrait modes. We've made a detailed video on this; check it out for more. The camera performance is excellent, and the design is nice and slim.
This phone has a curved display unlike the Galaxy S23 FE, with a 6.78-inch AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate panel and over 2,800 nits of peak brightness. Unlike Samsung, it doesn’t have an IP68 rating—only IP54—and no wireless charging. It packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging. It comes with Android 14 out of the box, and Vivo promises three years of software updates, taking you to Android 17. The issue is it has mono speakers and a Dimensity 8200 chip, which might not be ideal for performance-oriented users. It also has a lot of bloatware, which Vivo should address in future phones. Still, it’s highly recommended for its camera in this price range.

3. Nothing Phone (2)
The next recommendation is the Nothing Phone (2), which initially received criticism for its pricing, but now makes sense at around ₹35,000-₹36,000. This phone is for those who want a unique design with glyph lighting and an impressive look. The Nothing OS experience launched with Android 13 and now runs on Android 14. You get 3+4 years of software updates, up to Android 16. The OS experience is excellent, with a dot-matrix design and a lot of attention to detail, including useful Quick Settings on the lock screen.
The performance is decent with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and it has a flat 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display. The brightness could be better, as other phones in this range offer higher brightness. It supports wireless charging but has an IP54 rating, not IP68. The network capabilities are impressive, with support for VoNR and excellent call quality. The downside is that its camera performance is not as versatile as the Vivo V30 Pro or the Galaxy S23 FE.
4. OnePlus 12R
Next, I recommend the OnePlus 12R. It’s a fantastic phone for performance enthusiasts, with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2—the most powerful SoC in a phone under ₹40,000. It also features a 5,500 mAh battery and 100W fast charging. However, it lacks wireless charging and has an IP64 rating, not as robust as IP68 on the S23 FE. The curved display experience is nice, similar to the Vivo V30 Pro, with a 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution display and high peak brightness. It also has low PWM dimming to reduce flicker.
It runs OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14, with 3+4 years of software updates up to Android 17. The camera is good but not as strong as the S23 FE or Vivo V30 Pro.

5. iQOO Neo 9 Pro
iQOO Neo 9 Pro |
The top phone on my list is the iQOO Neo 9 Pro, primarily due to its pricing and specs. Under ₹35,000, with card discounts, you get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It’s a performance beast with LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 4.0 storage (UFS 3.1 for the 128 GB variant), and 120W fast charging with a 5,000 mAh battery. The display is similar to the OnePlus 12R and Vivo V30 Pro, with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and 3,000 nits peak brightness. It comes with Android 14 and promises three years of software updates and four years of security updates.
However, it does come with bloatware, which is a downside. The Neo 9 Pro not only excels in performance but also takes good pictures, benefiting from Vivo's algorithms, making it better than the OnePlus 12R in this aspect.
These are my top five phones under ₹40,000. There’s something for everyone—if you want a great flagship experience, there’s the S23 FE. For performance, you have the Neo 9 Pro and OnePlus 12R. For excellent cameras, there's the V30 Pro, and for a stylish design, the Nothing Phone (2). Consumers have it really good right now.
